Breeding horses have special dietary needs that are different from racing, performance or recreational horses. Getting a mare's diet right is important for fertility, a successful foaling, a healthy, robust and structurally sound foal, and that all-important milk to get the foal off to the right start.

We've designed a package especially for the equine breeder, including:

• comprehensive diet analyses so that all micro-nutrients and vitamins are included in your horse's requirements,
• activity levels reflecting the different stages of pregnancy and lactation,
• the stallion's breeding status,
• and of course you can balance diets for foals and young growing horses too.

FeedXL helps you create diets using pasture and feeds you have available or can purchase for your horses. We have an extensive database of more than 500 feeds (and growing) and if the feeds you use aren't in there we can simply put them in for you.

All you need to do is enter your horse's details and FeedXL will calculate his/her nutritional requirements. Then, use the diet builder tool to either create a new diet or test your horse's current diet to see how well it meets your horse's current requirements. FeedXL provides you with visual and detailed analyses to show how well the diet is meeting those requirements. And pastures are included too since these are an important source of nutrients and fibre for breeding horses.

You can modify diets as your horse's condition changes, the pregnancy proceeds, or she foals and begins lactating. This ensures she receives the best feed possible at all times. Diet reports are automatically saved by FeedXL so you can retrieve your horse's diets at any time. They are created in a convenient pdf format for easy viewing and printing.
